A focused guide to quotes for one-bedroom and studio moves in Dubai, what a fair quote should include and simple ways to keep a small move simple.
A one-bedroom apartment is one of the most common moves in Dubai. Young professionals, couples and new arrivals move between communities as leases end, jobs change or rents shift. Because the job is smaller, it is easy to assume every mover will charge roughly the same. In practice, quotes for small moves can vary quite a lot, and the reasons are worth understanding.
A typical one-bedroom move might include a bed and mattress, a wardrobe, a sofa, a dining set, a TV and stand, a desk, kitchen items, clothes and some boxes of personal belongings. Some flats come furnished, which means you are only moving personal items. Others are unfurnished and you own everything down to the washing machine.
Tell movers which situation you are in. A furnished-flat move with a few boxes and suitcases is a very different job from moving a fully equipped home.
Even for a small flat, several things change the quote:
None of these is unusual, but each can add time. Small moves are often priced as a fixed package, so ask what the package assumes.
Many Dubai movers offer packages for studios and one-bedroom flats. These usually bundle a crew, one truck, basic materials and a set number of hours or a fixed job. Packages are convenient and easy to compare, but they come with limits. Check the number of cartons included, whether dismantling is included, and whether handyman tasks are extra.
If your flat has more than the typical amount, such as a home office, a large bookcase or a lot of kitchen equipment, mention it so the package fits.
A small move is where self-packing makes the most sense. Packing clothes, books and personal items yourself can reduce both time and cost. You can leave fragile items, the TV and furniture to the crew.
If you go this route, use sturdy boxes, label each one with the room and contents, and keep heavy items in small boxes. Have everything ready before the crew arrives, because waiting for packing to finish uses paid time.
Many Dubai towers require a move-out permit from the old building and a move-in permit for the new one, often with a booked lift slot. Some require a refundable deposit. These rules apply to small moves too. Arranging permits early avoids the situation where the crew arrives and cannot use the lift. For tenancy and handover questions, the Dubai Land Department has official guidance for tenants.
Ask three movers for a written quote with the same information. For each one, note:
If you would rather not message several companies separately, this quote comparison page lets you send one request and receive written replies from a few vetted movers.
For very small moves, some people use a small truck with a driver and a helper. This can work for a few items within the same area. It is less suitable if you have heavy furniture, many fragile items or a building that requires a registered moving company for permits. Weigh the savings against the risk of damage and the time you will spend doing the lifting.

Lease end dates in Dubai often cluster around the start or end of a month, which means many small moves happen on the same few days. If your old and new tenancies overlap by even a day or two, you gain flexibility to book a quieter weekday. That can make it easier to get a lift slot at both buildings and may give you more choice of movers.
It also helps to think about the time of day. Morning slots tend to be cooler and leave room for delays, while late slots risk running into building quiet hours. Ask the mover how long they expect the job to take and choose a slot that leaves a margin at both ends.
Some people move just a few floors or a few blocks. These moves can be cheaper because there is little driving, but they still need a crew, protection for furniture and permits from building management. Mention it clearly when asking for quotes, since some movers price short local moves differently.
Moving a one-bedroom flat in Dubai is usually straightforward, but quotes still vary because of access, packing, dismantling and timing. Ask for written quotes based on the same details, know what each package includes, and do the easy packing yourself if you want to save. The best quote is the one that matches your actual move, not just the lowest headline price.
